this is a mountain area so expect varied weather, however daytime temperatures are generally good from April to the end of October.
Come in the Spring for fishing, Summer for mountain biking and hikes, Autumn for endless fall colours, and even Winter for a snowy retreat with a log fire.

There is a strong music scene with venues in Elkins and the Purple Fiddle in Thomas. Bob Smakula’s world-renowned Banjo, Fiddle and Guitar restorer is 4 miles away in Kerens.

Elkins Mountain State Forest Festival is one of the oldest and largest West Virginia forest festivals held over an October weekend includes parades, forest inspired competitions, music, forestry & wood exhibits, art, photography and local craft and quilt shows.

Visit the West Virginia State Wildlife Center to see all the native wildlife, however much can be spotted whilst sitting on the deck.
